Over the last 14 years "The
Duchess of Argyll" has been maintained and improved by
the current owner Geoffery Desborough and Stanley & Thomas,
winning many trophies at the Thames Traditional Boat Rally.
She has a "Cyclotherm" horizontal oil fired boiler
built in the USA during the war.
The engine is a twin cylinder 3 1/2" x 3 1/2" x 4" built by
Davis Engineering Co of Abingdon in 1905. The hull is mahogany
on oak with a counter stern and clipper bow. The superstructure
is teak with barley twists to support the canopy. |
